What kind of slate is involved?

The slate that I use are slate roof tiles that are recycled from a home that was built in the late 1800's.

What is the process?

It varies, sometimes I take a single slate tile which is measures 12 x 22 and paint it one solid color.

Other times I will hand paint it multiple colors.

What is use to cut the shapes?

I will use either a mallet or hammer. I like the organic shapes as a result. I then carefully select different sizes and shapes.

The slate looks fragile will it break or chip?

I layer and seal the slate with a commercial resin to make it stronger and more durable. * I don't recommend wearing the pieces during any physical activity (sports).

Is is waterproof?

Yes. (bathing, showering,swimming or deep sea diving would not be advised)

Guarantee

If a piece breaks under normal wearing conditions, it will be repaired or replaced at no charge for a full year.

Cleaning

I recommend care for your pieces like you would any other precious jewelry. I will include a canvas or burlap pouch with each purchase.
